Hoshana Rabbah – The Night of Mysticism in South Tel Aviv – 10 October 2017
Hoshana Rabbah – the time of the day that is neither a day nor a night. The only such an evening, when the old Beit Yaakov synagogue in Neve Sha’an (south of Tel Aviv) will be transformed to a space of misiticism and inspiration.
PROGRAM
From 21 : 30 till midnight we will gather for an evening of inspiration, creativity, spiritual experience and music in the Beit Yaakov synagogue, a former synagogue that has been abandoned by its worshipers many years ago.
22 : 00 – Prof. Haviva Pedaya – Mysticism, Light and Shade – discussion
23 : 30 – Yemen Blues – Ravid Kahalani, the violinist of the Yemen Blues in a mystical music master classes that will be a great inspirational experience for everyone.

According to the Jewish tradition, during the the Mikdash (Temple) Times, during the Hoshana Rabbah it was customary to circle the altar seven times, to strike the Arava and to draw water over the altar.
In Jewish mysticism, this day was devoted to correction, contemplation of deeds and faith, and there were various Kabbalistic customs such as the practice of observing the existence of man’s shadow.
The Hoshana Rabbah is the time of faith, the time when miracles happen.
The night of Hoshana Rabbah is a night of inspiration, renewal and other spirit. It is precisely this night when we seek to return and renew ancient spaces in a new spirit thats draw its strength from the past.

The event is part of a project aiming to expose the heritage of abandoned synagogues of Tel Aviv by bringing them back to the Israeli public consciousness and revitalizing them as centers of young Jewish/Israeli culture that will provide a renewed and fascinating perspective on ourselves, the community, the city and the Jewish identity.
The event was jointly organized by the Damascus Community in Israel and the Association of Former Residents of Damascus (Syria)

קָרֵב יוֹם אֲשֶׁר הוּא לֹא יוֹם וְלֹא לַיְלָה
לערב אחד יהפוך בית הכנסת העתיק “בית יעקב” בנווה שאנן, דרום תל אביב. לחלל של השראה
החל מהשעה 21:30 אל תוך הלילה נתכנס לערב של השראה, יצירה, רוח ומוזיקה בבית הכנסת הדמשקאי “בית יעקב”, בית כנסת שהתרוקן ממתפלליו.

23:30- Yemen Blues – Ravid Kahalani רביד כחלני, סולן היאמן בלוז בכיתת אומן מיסטית, שר ומנגן מקורות השראה

הושענא רבה מסמל את היום בו נחרץ הדין, במסורת היהודית התפתח המנהג לבצע ביום זה תיקון- לילה של לימוד תורה לשם המתקת הדינים ולומר פרקי “הושענות”.לפי המסורת, בתקופת המקדש נהגו להקיף את המזבח שבע פעמים, לחבוט בערבה ולנסך מים מעל המזבח.
במיסטיקה היהודית יום זה הוקדש לתיקון, התבוננות במעשים ואמונה ונפוצו בו מנהגים קבליים שונים כדוגמת מנהג ההתבוננות בצילו של האדם.
ראוי הוא הלילה לבכות בו, ראוי הוא הלילה להרגיש בו, הלילה הוא תחום אפור, מחוץ לשליטתנו, בלילה מתעוררים השדים, לילה הוא זמן האמונה, לילה הוא הזמן בו קורים ניסים-
ליל הושענא רבה הינו לילה של השראה, של התחדשות ושאר רוח. דווקא בלילה זה נבקש לחזור ולחדש חללים עתיקים ברוח חדשה השואבת את עוצמותיה מן העבר.

האירוע הינו חלק ממיזם חלל פנוי–
מיזם המבקש לחשוף את סיפורם של בתי הכנסת הנטושים והעתיקים של העיר תל אביב. להחזירם לתודעה הציבורית ולהחיותם כמרכזי תרבות ואומנות צעירה יהודית ובועטת אשר תספק הסתכלות מחודשת ומרתקת על עצמינו, הקהילה, העיר והזהות היהודית.
