Thanks to the many year commitment of the Cukunft Jewish Association’s members to revive of the Jewish life in Poland, the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda, at the request of the Lower Silesian Voivode Mr. Paweł Hreniak, admitted on 17.04.2018 state decorations – Crosses of Merit (silver, bronze) to 5 members of the Jewish religious community in Wrocław, of which 3 are members of Cukunft: Jan Kirschenbaum (Bronze Cross of Merit), Mirosława Peszko-Krieger (Silver Cross of Merit) and Aleksander Wilczura (Bronze Cross of Merit), Mira Żelechower-Aleksiun (Silver Cross of Merit) and Rafael Blau from the Rutik Synagogue (Bronze Cross of Merit) (Order of the President of the Republic of Poland of April 17, 2018 on awarding Rej decorations, 132/2018)
The official ceremony of Polish State decorations with Crosses of Merit and diplomas from Paweł Hreniak ( Lower Silesian Voivode) and Mrs. Justyna Matkowska, Plenipotentiary of the Lower Silesian Voivode for Minorities took place on June 7, 2019 in the hall of the Lower Silesian Voivodship Office in Wroclaw, Poland.
The Ceremonyat the Hall of the Lower Silesian Voivodship Office in Wroclaw took place in a very nice, family atmosphere. There were official congratulations, diplomas, gifts, applause and tears of emotion. Of course, this important event could not fail to include Cukunft’s honorary guests: Jaroslaw Szydlowski, Zbignew Sokulski, Irena Kokusz and Anna Kokusz with their daughters as well as Miroslawa and Jerzy Krasniewski.
